The book of Ephesians (6:1-4), has given a specific guideline to all, as to how to deal with our family and friends in a scriptural way. But, we are living in 21st century, where cyber world rules lives, and priorities and outlook of people are absolutely different. Understanding people’s psyche, itself is a big challenge. To make matters worse, cyber world comes with its own distractions. Hence, one of the biggest challenges we all face is, how to deal with our family members.

Without scriptural trainings, teaching our younger generations, might not be wise. The truth remains, that the teachings are centuries old, but if we are armed with it, it becomes much easier to deal with people, since we are not approaching people directly with our own worldly wisdom, but following the “lead of God and His wisdom”.

As the book of Ephesians chapter 6, verse 12 says, “we are not wrestling with flesh and blood (contending only with physical opponents), but against the despotisms, against the powers, against the world rulers of this present darkness (cyber world comes with a huge amount of darkness with it), against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly (Supernatural) sphere.

When we face oppositions from people, rather than getting angry, if we understand that they are guided by some supernatural wicked spirits, it will be much easier for us to deal with them in peace! And who knows, probably by our gentleness, we might ignite the fruits of the Spirit in them. As the book of Galatians (5:22-23) says, “but the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, self-control, against such things, there is no law. Again, Philippians (4:5) says, “ let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near.”

Often I noticed in my walk with Lord, that people’s attitudes and behaviours towards me, depends a great deal on my behaviour towards them. Many a times, people went extra mile to help me seeing Lord’s gentleness in me, and it helped me to reach Christ to them easily and eventually their lives turned into blessings. With Lord, absolutely anything is possible on earth. I always felt in spirit, Lord’s love touching their souls, without them realising it. Probably Lord has already chosen that specific person to bless as ‘His vessel’, and I am just instrumental in bringing the person, to the saving knowledge of Christ. But isn’t that the way Lord works? He ignites His love first in one person and then uses that one to touch many lives and many more through those He called? That’s His ‘amazing grace’.

So coming back to how to deal with our family members, we have to pay attention to a small thought. Just as we would never leave our homes half dressed, same way we cannot deal with our family members ‘spiritually unprepared’. We just cannot afford to forget our spiritual armor. Because every day, forces of satan wage war against you, and it is very important for you to be protected with your armor. As a warrior wouldn’t enter a battleground without his armor and weapons, you are not to deal with satanic powers without fully spiritually clothed. Clothed with spiritual armor and authority, you can stand against any evil force, and face any challenge, knowing fully well that Lord your God is completely in control. Our enemies are not natural, but spiritual. Recognising the source right, and dealing with it right way, is sure way to victory.
