“Don’t be spiritually blind, but Walk in light”
“Guru Granth Sahib”, the ‘Holy Granth’, the true and permanent spiritual guide of the Sikhs, compiled by the Fifth Guru, Guru Arjan Dev Ji, contains verses of six Sikh Gurus. It also contains verses of other Indian Saints such as Kabirdas Ji, Farid Ji, Surdas Ji, Namdev JI, Trilochan JI, Ravidas Ji and some highly respected saints.
(Shash Grewal(Shashwati) is a philanthropist and a social worker, who tries to reach out to hurting hearts with scriptural blessings and kindness.)
The message was clear:-
Selfless service of humanity is the true worship of God.
Also emphasis was on ‘Truth’ and truthful living….
Scriptural references on truth in the “Holy Bible”, Psalm 15:2-3, points out “whose tongue utters no slander, and casts no slur on others”.
1 John 1:6, “If we claim to have fellowship with God and yet walk in darkness, we lie and do not live out the truth”.
Surprisingly, we find people pretending to be really religious, but their actions and words do not match. They take minutes to rip people with harsh words and tarnish them with character assassination, yet claim, they know God and worship Him.
(Shash Grewal(Shashwati) is a “Scriptural Motivational Writer, who explain’s life’s, common principles, in a very lucid manner so that the younger generation can relate to the solutions, She offers through her writing, to all the problems they face on a daily basis.)
Character of a truthful person (the one who walks in light) would be ‘noble, pure, admirable and praiseworthy. We can recognise them with their thoughts and words.
As the great Poet Kabirdas Ji says….
”aisi vaani boliye, mun ka aapa khoye
Apna tan sheetal kare, auran ko sukh hoye”
(speak such words, sans ego’s ploy, body remains composed, giving the listener joy)
Spiritually blind people are living in darkness. If they had light, they will walk in different directions, that their sins and ills may not come out in the light. We must seek light and truth, because truth sets us free. In light , darkness disappears. God created Light and separated light from darkness. “
John 1:4-5—–“the word gave life to everything that was created, and His life brought light to everyone. The light shines in the darkness and the darkness can never extinguish it, because the darkness is basically “absence of light”….Recognise the “light” and walk in it’.
“If someone says “I love God”, but hates a brother or sister, that person is a liar, for if we can’t love a person whom we can see, how can we love God, whom we cannot see”?(1Jonh 4:20)
Time and again, teachers and prophets came, to teach selfless love and tolerance towards each other, but humanity failed to understand the simplest message. It is so easy for them to be insolent towards each other, but so difficult to love and build each other. They themselves create all the problems and then keep complaining to God for their pitiful situations. Out of fear they worship God (which is mere rituals), but do not understand the simplest thing that they have to “Love God”.
Thank Him always with a grateful heart for His kindness and remember Him during your good times too, not only during your agony. God is good all the time! He gives sunshine to the good and wicked ones equally…..be grateful for who He is.
As the great poet and saint Kabirdas Ji says
“Dukh me simran sab kare, sukh me kare na koye
Jo sukh me simran kare, tau dukh kahe ko hoye”
{in anguish, everyone prays to Him, in joy no one remembers, to one who prays in happiness, How can sorrow come?}
Walk in light and don’t remain spiritually blind.
Blessings!
