God’s Promise
{2 Samuel 7:22-29}
The famous and valiant warrior, king David, was not only known as “man after God’s own heart”, but also a true worshipper he was. Most of his time he spent in praising and worshipping the Lord. The above said chapter quotes, that he prayed like this—— “O Sovereign Lord! How great You are. There is no one like you. Who is like your people Israel (symbolic of all faithful believers of today’s date)—-the one nation that God went to redeem as a people for Himself, and to make a name for Himself, and to perform great and awesome wonders by driving out nations, whom you redeemed from Egypt(symbolic of oppressors, that could be anyone or anything, for instance—people who stand up against us on false grounds, anything that keeps us in captivity, any bondage that we carried from past). You have established your people Israel as your very own forever, and you , O ’Lord, have become their God.”
(Shash Grewal(Shashwati) is a philanthropist and a social worker, who tries to reach out to hurting hearts with scriptural blessings and kindness.)
Verse 28 goes on to describe his prayer—“You are God, your words are trustworthy, and you have promised all good things to your servant, that it may continue forever in your sight. For you, O Sovereign Lord, have spoken and with your blessing the house of your servant will be blessed forever”!!!!
Present times, life is difficult. We find people standing up against us for sometimes just no reason apart from jealousies and greed. Always remember one thing, God is not blind to your tears. He knows when He has to stand up with you. When you find your enemies standing up against you, and you have faith enough in your Creator, just be assured, He is by your side. Your enemies are still humans and your challenges are mere worldly. God is not. He is the Omnipotent ‘ One and only’. If He is by you, that’s an army in itself. He would never call you in the first place, to live as a victim. If He called you, it s to make you live as a ‘victor’ only.

2 Samuel 8:1 goes on to explain King David’ conquest and victories in the course of time.
David defeated the Philistines and subdued them and took Metheg Ammah from the control of Philistines. Defeated Moabites. He made them to lie down on the ground and measured them off with a length of a cord. Every two lengths were put to death. And the third length was allowed to live. So that Moabites became subject to David and brought tribute. History records, that all these articles of silver and gold, he dedicated to Lord. All the plunders captured from various defeats, he dedicated all to God. David became famous after he returned from striking down eighteen thousand Edomites in the valley of salt.
(Being a Sangeet Ratna, Shash Grewal(Shashwati) composes fusions and enlightened music, in praise and worship.)
2 Samuel 8:14 records, Lord gave victory to David, WHEREVER HE WENT
It wasn’t David”s good works exactly that gave him victory. It was the ‘’grace’’ of the Lord, that ensured his victory everywhere, simply because David was a true worshipper and always spared time to praise and worship Lord.
So next time you see people standing up against you, know that God stands by you, if your intentions are right, no one can defeat you.
But always remember, He that receives more, cannot justly glory in his own merits nor elevate himself above others, nor insult those that have less, because he is greater and better, who attributes less to himself and is more humble and devout in returning thanks. And he who esteems himself the vilest of men, and judges himself the most unworthy, is worthy to receive the greater things.
All good comes from God Alone!!
Blessings!!
