Attitude of gratitude

In our journey of life, if there’s anything that defines and gives direction to our lives,its our attitudes. How we perceive life and what we make out of our lives, it completely depends upon our attitude. God has given us a free will, He is not the one who would force anything down our neck, but rather waits patiently, lovingly, to see, what we are making out of our freewill, what decisions and choices we are making in the course of our life.

I learnt this lesson long time back the hard way, but I learnt.

I remember during my college days, most of the time I spent whining ,complaining and cribbing about how situations were never in my favour. I had a bad attitude, a negative approach towards almost everything and since I wasn’t really having a very healthy attitude towards life, nothing was really working out. Be it my studies, my family and so on. Life was looking meaningless, it lacked direction, all my potential was going waste and I was getting more and more frustrated.

It takes a strong will power to change the direction of our lives, its on us to make that conscious choice. To make it all happen for us, to live as a victor in life, and not as a victim.

I made that choice.

Ofcourse the wisdom came to me, only once I came to the saving knowledge of Christ.

But once the knowledge came, I realised my folly. I realized, I was lacking gratitude towards God and all the blessings He blessed me wiht so freely, so abundantly.I was not an orphan, but my parents were there to look after me, I was sheltered and protected and didn’t have to fight for my living like orphans and not so priviledged children. I was getting proper education and did not have to fight for my rights to education, like women in backward areas and many countries, who are executed or insulted for their simple rights to literacy.I was well fed and well taken care of by my parents and not left as a destitute to look after myself and there were innumerable other blessings I took for granted earlier because of my lack of gratitude.

It broke my heart that day and I decided from here on I will “ cooperate” with God and make all the blessings. He is about to bless me with ”work” for me and then on there was no looking back. I chose to “Believe and Live” those promises my God has promised me for my life.

Since that day on, I am always filled with peace and joy from within nothing disturbs my mind. I am always at rest its not that everything is always working in my favour, I do go through disappointing experiences too, but the beauty of it is that my Lord trained me to “handle” everything deftly, with a stable mind and a stable tongue, I am able to come out everytime as a victor. I keep an attitude of gratitude towards God, knowing that He is my father and will never leave me nor forsake me, since He promised me so.

God is “able and migthty”.

Do not fear and never doubt just believe if you find no way in front of you just know that your God is able to open new doors of blessings and opportunities for you, He will open those doors of blessings, which no one will ever be able to shut. Always have an attitude of gratitude.
