Each one of us are blessed with many talents and many gifts from God.I’m sure, all of us agree that God has supplied to each one of us with those blessings that are needed for our survival.
Out of many gifts, are our gifts of children. In the olden days, women were weighed worthy and valuable with the number of children they had, and especially male child. Those days even the mothers had all the time to rear their kids in scriptural knowledge and hence the upbringing of most of the biblical characters have become great sources of strength for our generations today.
Whenever we are overwhelmed with depression, or gripped with fear, some characters in the bible give us great amount of comfort and peace, when we go through the intricate details of these ancient characters, and see, how they withstood their trials and pains.

For example, in the book of Exodusthe character of Moses teaches us so many things. We learn how an ordinary man, achieved great things, in freeing Israelites from the Egyptians, and was hearing from God directly, as if we would hear from a friend of ours.
Upbringing of a child in the correct manner is so very important. The foundations of how the personality of the child would be, are laid during his childhood by the mother herself, hence its very important, that the mother herself is spiritually mature and also wise and sensible enough to guide her children.
Today probably we can look into the life of Hannah, and her son Samuel and their journey, in the path of God.
If we go to the book of 1 Samuel Chapter 1, we see Hannah, wife of Elkanah, son of Jeroham, was barren. Her husband had two wives Hannah and Peninnah. Peninnah had children but Hannah had none, that broke Hannah’s heart everyday. She cried to God in distress almost everyday, since in those days being barren was a curse.
God took pity on her, and blessed her with a son. And she named him Samuel. Ch 1:11, we see that Hannah vowed to God, that if God blessed her with a boy, she would give the child to the Lord, all his life, no razor would touch his head.
Ch 1:24, as per her vowshe weaned the child and took her to the Lord’s house in Shiloh.
Now the tricky part is this we saw Hannah was barren, when she gave birth to Samuel, there was no assurance that she would give birth to more children, and Samuel was her first child. She could have withheld the child, thinking now she has got a child, and Lord would understand if she kept her child, but she did not do that. Rather she herself went to the house of God, to give the child into the custody of the priest, this shows maturity and strength of character of the mother.
This shaped the character and future of the child Samuel. Chapter 2:11 says that the child ministered to the Lord before Eli the priest. Ch 2:18, a child girded with a linen ephod.
The mother’s spiritual maturity and wisdom gave us one of the strongest and wisest prophets of all time named Samuel, who we all have read about.

But as parents its our decisions, in helping our children to come to fulfilment, of their call in their respective lives, and also helping them to bring fruitfulness of blessings upon their own lives.
Psalm 115:14 says that Lord will give increase more and more to our children, and we believe, our God is steadfast in His promises, and He surely will do what He says, but We have to be obedient obedient enough to be able to hear from Him every time He speaks to us, to read scriptures ourselves everyday and be mature enough to guide our children in the ways of God.
Bible says, that those who walk in wisdom, will be successful, and live long lives. they will be exceedingly happy, they will be blessed, so blessed that they will be envied (proverbs 3:1-18).
So my brothers and sisters in Lord, believe God’s word, worship Him daily and teach your children (who are part of your blessings from God) the reverent fear of the Lord, from their tender and impressionable age, so that they are not only blessings for themselves but also turns out huge blessings for you, when you are old.
God bless you all.
