Die to the old and be spiritually alive!
I had read a story about a crow and a pitcher of water, when I was a small child. I still remember that story. Somehow I grew up with that story. I didn’t know then, that the story will make so much sense to me at this stage of my life. It goes like this ……
It was a bright sunny day. And a crow was very thirsty and water was nowhere around, apart from an old earthen pitcher under a tree. But the water was so down below, that the poor crow couldn’t have drunk from it with its beak. So an idea struck him. The crow collected small stones from all around and kept dropping them one by one into the pitcher. With every stone that went in , same amount of water started coming up. It took a while for the poor crow to fill the pitcher with so many stones for the water to come up. But the entire effort was worth it. The crow could quench its thirst with the only source of water that was available there.
Now …. food for thought……
Put yourself in the place of the ‘pitcher’. As pitchers, everyday as we start facing a new day, all of us are spiritually down there with ‘barely any living water in us (that is worthy or usable for God). ‘If we are willing’( conditions apply), God starts putting stones (of His strength, His might, His wisdom, His beauty and above all His Holy Spirit) inside us , the ‘unworthy pitchers’. He keeps putting stones of His strength in us long enough ( it takes lot of efforts on God’s part to bring us up ), till the time we ‘don’t die to self ( greed, hatred, lust, pride and so on), and surrender ourselves completely to Him.
Our lives are stained with sins. There is nothing we can do to undo our past mistakes. There is nothing we can do to remove the stains of sins from our lives. So God looked down graciously upon mankind and thought of a way of redeeming us. John 3:16 , “But God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever that believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life“.

Such a great opportunity God gave us to do away with all our past sins, die to our sinful nature for once and for all and start on a new slate , come out clean in front of God and start afresh. Just by faith we are new, absolutely new! ‘
Sin and Self are purged away.
Once we come to a stage of “complete surrender“ to God, we become spiritually alive and God’s power starts working in us. We become His pitchers, filled with His love, His Grace, with power in our tongues to pray and defeat Satan every step, with God’s word that He gave us authority as His children..
As we wait on Him, we become His kids in the ‘growing up process everyday’ ( as we learn to worship and spend time with Him daily in prayers and fellowship). We can absolutely defeat anything on earth by the power of God’s word, our ‘spiritual sword’. Because the “only” way to defeat the enemy or accomplish God’s purpose in our life is by His Spirit. “Not by might, nor by power, but by MY SPIRIT, sayeth the Lord (Zechariah 4:6).
“God works all things together good for those that love the Lord, to them who are called for His purpose” (Romans 8:28)

When we learn to wait on the Lord, we mature in His words faster. Because heightened spiritual awakening happens in quiet, in His Holy presence. He bathes us with His love . He fills us with His power.
I got saved in the year 1998. As a ‘weak child of His’ I was learning to get a grasp of what ‘worship’ literally meant. It took me a while to understand (as I was spending time in His Holy presence everyday), that it was literally an ‘exchange programme’ with God. I was giving Him my weakness and He was filling me with His strength. I was giving Him my ashes, and He was replacing it with His beauty ( Isaiah 61:3). I prayed with mourning in front of Him, and He was filling me with joy. I gave Him all my sins and He clothed me with righteousness. “They will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for His glory” (Isaiah 61:3).
It was an extremely beautiful exchange offer from God, that was truly empowering me. I was getting stronger and stronger with His might, knowing with confidence that He stands strong next to me and nothing can ever defeat me. It took me a few years to truly learn ‘how to pray’ and understand the need for ‘why pray’?
Now I can say confidently, why I spend all my time with Him everyday, and why I pray the way I pray. Simply because I need Him, every breath of my life.
He is a good God. You really have to taste His goodness by being obedient. Your ‘total surrender’ to God opens floodgates of Heaven. It allows God to do all His best for you, since now He knows “He is all that you depend on”. Simply try ‘dying to self completely’ and ‘come alive spiritually empowered’ to face life in a completely different way. I simply cannot explain in words what I experience daily under His Grace. You have to experience it yourself with total surrender
“I will rejoice greatly in the Lord. My soul will exult in my God. For He has clothed me with garments of salvation, He has wrapped me with a robe of righteousness. As a bridegroom decks himself with a garland, And a bride adorns herself with her jewels” (Isaiah 61:10)
